I’ve been a member at this range for a while now and couldn’t be happier with the experience. I pay annually for my membership, and it’s well worth it. One of the standout features is the availability of steel targets at every yardage. There’s a small additional fee to shoot steel, which is totally reasonable given the upkeep required to keep the targets in good shape. The range also provides staples and stakes for your paper targets, which is a nice convenience. Inside the office, you’ll find a selection of ammo, targets, and other shooting accessories available for purchase—great if you need to pick something up last minute. The safety briefing is quick, clear, and only required once at the beginning of your membership. Best of all, it doesn’t cut into your actual range time. All in all, it’s a safe, well-maintained, and enjoyable place to shoot. Definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a solid range to call home!

Not too impressed with this range. Staff can come off as condescending or patronizing. Price per hour was a lot for what it was. Safety brief seemed to never end even though the RSO talked as fast as an auctioneer. Felt like I was being watched over my shoulder for the slightest mistake. Benches aren’t very comfortable to shoot an ar, seems more for hunting rifle style. The 100 yard range was nice though.

Great experience at 340 Defense. From top to bottom. Great range, great staff, great RSOs, and even the other patrons were relaxed and friendly. Shout out to Robert the RSO for coming by and chatting, and giving me tips on how to zero my rifle. Didn't catch the name of the guy at the counter, but he was great too. Me and my wife went for the non-member, hourly rate. We probably spent about 3 hours there ($45/hour, per person), but he ended up only charging me for the time, and said my wife didn't have to pay "since she didn't shoot too much" (although she definitely did). Ranges were at 15 yards, 50 yards, 100 yards, and 300 yards (members only for the 300 range). Site had restrooms and water. Don't see how anyone could have a bad time here. RSOs were extremely chill, safety minded, and were always respectful (unlike RSOs at other ranges I've been to). Ranges were very cooperative, unlike anything I've seen at other places. Patrons are largely in control of going hot and cold, as long as every just gives the thumbs up, they're not timed or anything. Will definitely return, and probably look to become a member. They offer veteran discounts on membership too.

Steve and Robert are solid, polite, and consistent Range Safety Officers. They both have a healthy respect for firearms, firearm safety, and are willing to offer advice to people that are willing to receive it. The price for the range is appropriate and they do extend discounts to military and first-responders. I have always appreciated outdoor ranges that provide handwashing and this place takes it to the next level with working toilets. The indoor staff is always polite and work to help each customer as quickly as possible.

Love this place! Great folks, super nice to beginners and just overall a great range. The instructors are fantastic and the range is great!

Beat range around, many continued improvements and excellent staff all around

I live in Washington State and am in Virginia visiting relatives. My brother-in-law, a member of 340 Defense just took me to get some range time in. What a great place. The facilities are very clean, structured and welcoming. Robert, our RSO was amazing. He was very friendly but serious. It was great to be at a range that took safety seriously but wasn’t a bunch of jerks. Robert was fun to chat with as he monitored the range. We had range neighbors who were both guests, one of which was a first time shooter. They were treated so well and I’m sure will be back often. Great job guys. Thanks a lot. I’ll have to visit again soon.
