The new sheriff of Gaines county has implemented new rules out here, and they're not too good. We now have to leave a $200 deposit to go out there, and it wont be refundable until the range has been verified clean. So that means i will have to make a trip to the department to pick up the keys. Drop the keys back off and then make a third trip back to the department to pick up my deposit check after it has been verified clean, and they have contacted me. Also, no rapid fire drills will be allowed without a written consent from the range manager. So if you have a AR style rifle, good luck. Apparently the reason behind all of this is because of the damage to the concrete and target holders. It’s almost like there are bullets flying out there, hitting the things they’re supposed to and it’s causing damage to the things that are built and set up to aim and shoot at. I understand picking up shell casings and not leaving trash, or targets behind. But the deposit checks, no rapid fire unless authorized, and complaining about the concrete and targets is out of hand. Not only are we acting like this has just happened, but the range has been in bad shape for years with zero effort to fix the neglect over the last decade or so, now we have a new guy coming in acting like it’s happened over night. These new rules will not work out and will not better the range considering the county has done bare minimum over the years to maintain it to it’s original state.
Had a banging great time!
Fun place
