I completed a 4-day Long Distance Precision Rifle Course at Badlands. While I'd been a lifelong rifle and pistol shooter (military), I was a novice at scoped shooting. The team of experts at Badlands changed that! First, I have to say that having lodging included in the cost of the course is a game-changer. There are no courses I've found that offer this, and you can even show up the night before class begins. Bobby and his team bring a wealth of military, law enforcement, and just plain shooting experience to the table without trying to impress you. You learn in a relaxed atmosphere, finding what works. They even have fully functional gunsmithing capability, with the tools and knowledge to improve your rig. Bobby noted that my scope had moved slightly and we discovered that my armorer hadn't used the correct torque settings on my mount screws. Once he adjusted them correctly, my groupings improved. These guys offer a range of pistol and rifle courses. Most are shorter than the 4- day course I completed, but I have no doubt that ALL will be of great quality and value.

I attended the June 2025 Basic Long Range Precision Rifle Course. They provided onsite lodging with the class fee. I had never used a scope previously and over the course of four days , they taught us to adjust for distance and wind. It was challenging but we all were able to hit 20” X 40” targets out of 1,000 yards. My local dealer also did not get my scope mounted properly. One of the instructors noticed that and fixed it for me. Staff made me feel at home. This was money well spent. This honestly was a heck of a deal for what they provided. Bobby Whittington, owner, lead instructor and expert marksman runs a heck of a program along with his co instructors. There was plenty of expertise on hand with his co-instructors assisting. Very nice job Badlands!!

Took the Precision Long Range Rifle course to learn the basics and fundamentals of long range shooting. To say it is worth every cent is an understatement. The instructors go above and beyond to make sure you grasp the course content and actually understand the information. They are extremely patient with new shooters and seasoned shooters alike. If you need something to be successful they will do whatever they can to make sure you get it. I will absolutely recommend anyone looking to get into the sport of shooting, be it rifle or handguns, find a class with them. You will not regret it.

If you're looking for a place that makes you feel welcome and treats you like family, this place is unbeatable. The expertise Bobby, David, Steve, and Uly bring to the table is unmatched. If you're on the fence about attending, go for it—the price is more than worth it for the quality of training you receive. The knowledge and skills they share are priceless, especially considering how affordable the class is. Highly recommended!

I had an excellent time training here at Badlands. Informative and professional. The range was fun and my class was safe. The housing facility was more than expected. I had a comfy bed and hot meal. I would recommend this training and others to beginners and seasoned shooters. The foundational pistol course reviews basics and we were moving and shooting by the end. Real life training with expert instructors.

Took the 4 day Long Range Rifle Class last week. It was awesome! The instructors spent 12-14 hours a day with us. Saturday evening we were shooting till after sundown. I learned so much. I was able to consistently hit targets out to 600 yards with my AR .223 after the training and one of the instructors loaned me his 6.5 Creedmore and I shot it from 100 to 1000 yards, calculated all the holdovers for the yardages and was able to hit 4 of 5 shots at 1000. Learned to estimate wind and distance. I felt like it was a great bargain. They provided rooms with bedding, showers and a kitchen you could prepare your own food in. Not the Hilton but clean and adequate. I highly recommend this training.

Awesome facilities. Fantastic instructors. Lodging, classroom, and kitchen is all in the same building. Recommended for L.E. and civilian shooters.

I just completed the June precision course. Mr Whittington and his accompanying instructors are experts, they are approachable and encourage engagement from questions about the course to your gear and how to be better at all segments of it. Having accommodations with access to a lobby for dining in and access to the commercial kitchen at no extra course cost is a huge plus, overall meaning this course of expert instruction into precision rifle (cleet certified instruction) affordable for most folks. Simply pay a deposit and final payment at course time and you are good to go. This course is the real deal. You will shoot known distance from getting your zero, to qualification from 100 to 1000 yards, then you test your learning by shooting an unknown distance course of fire with your spotter factoring and calling your dope. Even if you take this particular course more than once you will learn something new every time and he has follow on course to learned advanced technique. Overall top shelf. I have been to NRA Whittington in Raton, NM and this is equal to it at half the cost and have no extra expenses to add by lodging and meals. Thank you Badlands Tactical and Whittington family for your hospitality and professionalism. Don’t let the $$ fool you. You can and will walk away with the experience of learning how to and achieving qualification of shooting out to 1000 yards with a centerfire rifle.
