UPDATE amending review 10 months later: A friend and I have shooting here since it is the closest option for both of us and I have been impressed by the staff and reminded why despite my initial frustrations, they still are quite friendly. The range staff are really great people, however I still have yet to come in when the broker is there, and for most info anymore I’ve learned to just do and trust my own research. They’ve earned more than my initial one star. Original one star review (edited for less negativity): I have given this place several chances by doing or attempting to do business with them and they have failed enough times by now. First, when asking if they can find a particular model sidearm. I visited the store to meet their gun broker (30 min drive for me) on a few occasions, he always seemed to be out of the office. Eventually I was able to get in touch by email and emailed back and forth with them for weeks and the result was essentially, "Why don't you just look it up on gunbroker.com?" The second time was taking a concealed carry course where I asked the instructor for clarity on what was public property and how that impacted one's ability to concealed carry. The response was, I can't answer that question, it just depends on the circumstances, and 20 minutes later, he covers literally the exact scenario I described. I said, "why didn't you just say you would cover it later? This slide covers it very clearly." He shrugged. The third and final time was after getting my build set up over about 6 months of waiting for various items to come into stock, trouble shooting, and dialing things in. Then one Sunday, I was finally able to take it to the range and test my new setup against my past groupings with the old setup, I see they are open until 6. My wife and I knock out everything we need to in the morning and afternoon being on the road for about 3 hours that day. I head off for the 30 minute drive to the range where I park, collect my things, and start heading to the door where there is a man with his arms crossed who has been watching me unload my car. After I get most of the way there, I'm standing a few yards away, he says, "You shooting today?" I respond saying, "Haha, hopin' to!" and he comes back with, "Well we took our last shooters at 5." I say "alright," drag all of my stuff back to my car and load it back in. I decided to take a look at my watch and see how far past 5 I was. I was very disappointed that it said 17:03, especially since he stood there and watched me get my things around and walk up to him which I would guess happened at 17:01. In short, if you are looking for a friendly staff, this is your place. If you are looking for a helpful or even a competent staff, I suggest you look elsewhere. If this is the best the Triangle has to offer, I've had SIGNIFICANTLY better experiences in Wilmington, Richmond, and the Charlotte area. That's where I will be going from now on. Triangle Shooting Academy is full of price tags, vacant smiles, and that's about all...
Professional and safe. A no BS range that takes its values seriously.
First time there very nice place . Will be going back soon.
i think my only complaint is that if you rent a gun you have to buy their ammo to shoot but but i didnt have ammo when i got there so i was gonna buy it there either way lol the "clean stuff guy" and whoever was with him at the counter were great
They are racist to young black men we came inside and payed for range time and sat and waited to go inside and shoot and they kicked us out and they’re only excuse was that we didn’t watch a video that we did watch and have expired car tags they took our license plate before kicking us out for no reason
People who work there are kind and helpful. Steve, one of the RSOs gave me some shooting tips and a small lesson as I am not well versed in handguns, he was super nice. Not a fan of all the info you have to provide. I don’t think I should have to give up all my personal information just to use a shooting bay, they hold your license as well while you are shooting? I think the $15 charge for a “range card” to watch a 8min safety video is kind of a ripoff, considering you also have to pay for your bay to shoot at. Also they won’t let you bring your own ammo to shoot out of their rentals, even if it’s the exact same stuff they’re providing you. I forgot my eyes and ears at my house on the way out, and they charge an extra $6 for a rental set. A little ridiculous given the premium placed on everything else. All in all ended up paying $90 just to try out some different handguns before I pull the trigger on my purchase. Nice facility, and good selection, just not a fan of being nickled and dimed at every opportunity. Range safety officer Steve was really really awesome though.
Love this place, it's one of my favorite places in the world....I get to blow off steam, train, buy things I want and don't need, And things I need! I've taken multiple courses to keep my skills sharp such as the AR Fundamentals, Intermediate Pistol and Defensive Pistol. I consider myself proficient in multiple platforms but I always learn something since the instructors are pretty knowledgeable. At the range I feel safe because the RSOs are in top of things, they are eager to help those who don't have much experience and are starting out. My daughters love coming with me which is great to have that time doing something we both enjoy.
