Usually a great place but the heavyset gentleman from Hunter Sports was working the register Sunday morning, August 10th. I went in and requested a round of sporting clays and 4 boxes of shot. He barely acknowledged me. I asked if he worked at Hunter Sports and he grunted a yes. As he grabbed the 4 boxes, one must’ve been slightly open. A few rounds fell out. He took the whole box and threw it as hard as he could into the floor behind the register. My 2 companions and I were shocked. Go to Brookhaven and South Shote Sportsman where the staffs are extremely friendly, polite, and helpful.

—Updated after business responded dishonestly— A bunch of machines were broken, the stout guy at the counter didn’t take enough targets off of the tab, when I went in to fix the issue I was met with anger and he told me he couldn’t fix it and wouldn’t fix it. When I expressed my frustration and informed the next group to check their bill closely, he told me not to return. Thats ok with me, no loss. Update, to clarify their response to this review. My girlfriend and I shot 220 times total. The key recorded 285 targets released by the machines, that’s a 65 target difference. You brought the bill down to 255 clays which still wasn’t appropriate, so I asked for a correction of 35 clays NOT 100 I will reiterate, I asked for a correction of 35 clays, not 100 clays. What’s the price of that ? About 20$ ? It’s about the principal of your ethics. You were insistent that you’d do nothing to remedy the situation, you were very rude, what would be my incentive to return to your business ? Especially after you told me not to return. You’ve got a very cool property but it needs to be rebuilt as a sporting clays range, update your machines, and work on your attitude and you’d be successful. Last note, your Facebook says you are long islands only public sporting clays range, you aren’t. And you claim to have the cheapest ammo, you don’t, yours is 110$ per case, it can be bought for 95-98$ in many places, that’s not a big deal, but don’t lie.

The door says $59.99 for a game of sporting clays but did not clarify that is only 10 stations instead of the full 12 at this facility. Okay, I can deal with paying for my extra targets at check out and know for next time. But one station was down entirely and another two had issues with broken clays or a down machine. They discounted us for 30 clays for this inconvenience. After paying, I realized that we still overpaid by 30 targets. We shot 220 total and paid for 250. Then got banned for pointing this out and asking for it to be fixed. Obviously can’t go here again, which is fine. Just want to let others beware that prices are misleading and when checking out to count your clays.

I got charged for 131 shots and it was supposedly “Supposed to be 150 shots but he brought the price lower because of known problems with clay disk shooters that weren’t functioning properly” I only brought 100 shots of 12 gauge rounds make that make sense…

Expensive for what is essentially a dump, most throwers are broken and misfire often. Not worth your money. Staff is rude as well.

Spent the afternoon doing sporting clays, waste of time. Be careful here, they’ll try and upsell you on earpieces, you have to ask for the disposable ones. Most of their traps are half broken, and the machines are all glitchy. Highlight was an attendant driving his cart in front of the stand with a loaded shooter to tell us the day was over. Avoid this spot if you want to have a safe and fun day of shooting.

Great public skeet range. Plenty of stations with a variety of trap and skeet to shoot. I recommend bringing your own shells and shotgun if you own one. The rentals are nice though with a lot of brands and types to choose from. Golf cart rental is available if you don’t want to walk the course. A bathroom and indoor seating is available at the clubhouse.
