Very friendly, but at the same time Very strict with the rule. I find it a comforting and safe place to test guns.
Shot under the 400 yrd range with the beautiful canopy, and I’ll be first in line to shoot under the 50 yrd when they put that canopy up. Also they got ice cream.
Range staff were professional and welcoming. They were informative and helped provide missing gear for students in the class. Outstanding group of individuals, highly recommend this range for instructors and individuals wanting to shoot.
Nice, well maintained range. I brought my 5 year old daughter here to start teaching her to shoot with my 9mm. The staff went above and beyond and allowed her to use a .22 rifle, and Sarah personally helped my daughter shoot it. She had fun, I had fun, overall an amazing first experience here!
Sydney Paul Shooting Range : When I joined the shooting range in 2023, I was a novice at operating a firearm, possessing any 2A knowledge or rights, and lacked any sort of self defense most people would likely consider useful. Other women have described nearly the same scenario to me at various events over the previous year. I now feel confident that I can operate more completely and smoothly after spending a good amount of time outdoors here. This is definitely in large part due to the range operators, volunteers, and the community within the shooting range. Like many others in and around the Alamogordo community, I am a transplant from a northerly city just a few years ago that has planned on retiring here soon. Over and again a response from friends and acquaintances I met during my 1st year here was to join the shooting range just outside Alamogordo in La Luz, NM about 4 miles north of town . While signing up, I found the family price to be the most economical choice for our family of 5 (can be up to 5 people). The volunteers that work at the range are extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and thorough. I typically only use the handgun range, however I have been in the general bays occasionally ( 4 total ), and the 200yd rifle range a few times. Throughout the week I have never waited for more than a few minutes for a range or a bay to become available and the hours are great for almost any work schedule. I now wish I had joined as a member of the shooting range sooner. There are several curricular events that take place each year at the range, of which I now participate in. The Girl and A Gun Club hosts regular events such as, Women on Target, Project Appleseed, and can administer the concealed carry exam in New Mexico. They have very low pressure joining information and instruction they provide for women here locally. I have since joined this club and would recommend any women curious obtain information https://www.agirlandagun.org/ There is an NRA sponsored event annually, and due to the substantial use of the range, The Friends of the NRA also sponsor a banquet dinner in Alamogordo. The friends of La Luz are also a significant contributor to range activity and provide an invaluable financial foundation to the shooting range, there information can be found here https://www.follr.org/ I would recommend to anyone, especially women and specifically those younger to join, participate, and become involved if you are even slightly curious, drive out and talk to someone at the range for information about joining, the range itself, CCW classes, etc. The shooting range is a jewel of a gathering place, and I am glad that I decided to become part of it. Very nice facility. Besides ranges with lanes, there are general purpose ranges with more freedom to move. Excellent range officers. Restrooms are clean. Prices are very reasonable. Would definitely return.
