Always a great time shooting here. Private and gated range with no obnoxious peers. Everyone is responsible and respectful.
Had my first-ever shooting lesson with Jason & Dr. Berichi and it was an amazing experience. Safety was the top priority, and he explained everything clearly, which made me feel comfortable right away. I learned so much and had a great time. Pinning my target practice on the fridge and I’ll definitely be back next time we’re in Montana. Thanks, Jason!
We flew the vision jet into Montana on the way back eastbound and visited Western Montana Fishing Game Association’s Deer Creek Shooting Complex. This is not just a range—it is a community hub, combining accessibility, discipline, and world-class opportunity. For those who appreciate aviation, training, and unique outdoor pursuits, I also encourage you to check out our work on the Charlie Berichi Show on YouTube and Instagram for conversations that bridge aviation, justice, business, and professional shooting. We’ll be providing more insight and video footage on Western Montana Fishing Game Association’s Deer Creek Shooting Complex during an upcoming episode on pro shooters.
I had the distinct privilege of experiencing a VIP tour of the Western Montana Fishing Game Association’s Deer Creek Shooting Complex, an experience that exceeded even the highest expectations. A World-Class Shooting Environment The owner, Mr. Jason Herdon, extended an extraordinary level of hospitality, personally guiding us through the facilities and leading us through competition shooting qualifications. His expertise not only demonstrated the range’s commitment to safety and precision, but also highlighted the Association’s broader mission of cultivating excellence. We were also given a glimpse of the surrounding community and the historical fabric of the town and gun club—an invaluable context that enriches the shooting experience. From an academic perspective, the Deer Creek complex epitomizes the alignment of accessibility, education, and international standards of sport shooting. At a mere $90 per month membership, with only a one-time $10 gate access card fee, members enjoy unlimited use of facilities that rival elite international clubs. The complex itself is remarkable: expansive ranges for rifle shooting (both paper and steel), extensive shotgun and skeet setups, and even an indoor (air-conditioned) air pistol and air rifle range that supports year-round training. This infrastructure fosters a continuum of learning—from casual enthusiasts to athletes aspiring toward Olympic-level competition. Community, Education, and Excellence Perhaps most impressive is the 365-day accessibility, from dawn until dusk, enabling consistent training and recreational opportunities. In my professional career, I emphasize discipline, structured training, and continuous skill development. This complex is a paradigm of those values, and it reflects the broader cultural importance of spaces where community, tradition, and advanced sport converge. Scenic and Experiential Value Western Montana itself contributes to the experience. Nestled in extraordinary natural beauty, the Deer Creek complex situates technical sport within an environment that is as inspiring as it is functional. The range is not merely a facility—it is a destination. I encourage readers to examine the attached photographs, which capture only a fraction of the phenomenal vistas and state-of-the-art arrangements that define this location. Broader Reflections My professional life often oscillates between two worlds: the rigorous demands of aviation—where I instruct as part of Berichi Aviation, a company offering specialized training and even unique experiences such as helicopter hog hunting in Florida—and the intellectual realm, where I explore justice governance as a Professor of Criminal Justice in Miami, FL. For those interested in deeper reflections on these intersections—aviation, justice, and culture—I invite you to explore my podcast, The Charlie Berichi Show, where I continue conversations on these themes. I will be discussing more about the Western Montana Fishing Game Association’s Deer Creek Shooting Complex on my show in an upcoming episode about competitive shooting. Respectfully, DR. Great fun at a clean facility
Just moved to the area. Where I came from, I thought I had a five star range. This place is on another level. Worth every penny for the yearly membership charge. Key code at gate. Staff was super friendly. Range bays were clean and well kept. Bathrooms were like stepping into a ritz Carlton latrine. Able to find an open bay and have a private range session. Unheard of where I come from. Can’t wait to come back in a few weeks.
Excellent range with steel available to shoot. Members are friendly and all operate safely.
Love the range but I drive semi and don't get to shoot much anymore so the price is higher then I want to pay for only shooting maybe 3 times a year. They need a day pass
