Range Tec

On a scale of 1 to 5 I'd give Rangetec, I dunno, maybe a 37. Absolutely the best range / training in the Midwest. All instructors are combat vets / ex-law enforcement. My concern was that this would be a class full of ex-Green Berets just tweaking their skills and this noob would be the guy holding the class up because I'd had very little formal training but I found this class suitable to all skill (or lack of skill) levels, mine included. I received fundamentals and accuracy as well as real world scenario training - shooting on the line at paper, at steel targets, at moving steel targets, shooting while moving, shooting from inside and from behind a vehicle. We shot with pistol and rifle and transitioned from one to the other in the event of a malfunction. We practiced malfunction / weapons clearing drills for rifle and pistol. There was a ton of training packed in to a short time frame but it didn't feel rushed. I came away far more confident in my skills and with skills I'd not even thought about. I've been shooting for 40 years and thought my skills - standing still shooting at paper targets - were pretty good. I didn't realize how much i didn't know and how much i was doing incorrectly until I attended the class there. Regarding the range - Buzz has put a lot of thought and a lot of money into the facility to make it one that offers training in most any real world scenario. Absolutely a first class facility. Shout out to my instructor - John Huber (sp?) - incredibly knowledgeable as well as super patient. Had the ability to pass his knowledge along in a clear and concise fashion. Some can do, some can teach. John can do both. This was my first class at that facility. It will not be my last.

I have shot and attending training courses all over the US and around the world. Range Tec is a world class facility hidden away just outside Mercer, MO. The computerized steel popup range is particularly humbling even for the best gunfighter.
