Howell's Indoor Range & Gun Shop

An amazing facility, could not recommend highly enough and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else if I lived nearby. I'm visiting Maine from the west coast and my family is visiting from France so I had to take them shooting for their first time and I couldn't have picked a better place. Ian is an excellent employee, great customer service, great recommendations as far as what guns to rent and he was a great source of tips for my family who are brand new to shooting. Ian turned our experience from a 10/10 to an 11, absolute stand up friendly guy. Can't wait to come back

We had a great time! It was our first time shooting guns. The staff were very nice and took a lot of time to explain everything to us. It was really fun!

My husband and I signed up for the “Date Night package” and had a great time. I myself am very new to shooting and the staff “Mitch” was very knowledgeable and patient giving us some great information, my husband being retired military was very impressed and so was I. Mitch you may have made a new best friend. I’ll drop him off to you haha! Thanks for the great experience and we’ll be back!

Howells was everything you want in a range….well equipped, competent trainers, knowledgeable employees, really clean place. I recently went to an all girls First Shooters class taught by Tatiana. What an inspiration she is! She really knows her stuff and makes you feel safe, assured and capable. I can’t tell you what that means to someone who’s just starting out trying to educate myself with how to properly handle/shoot/disassemble a firearm without freaking out. Couldn’t have asked for a better instructor. Can’t wait to take the next class and eventually sign up as a full time member at Howells…..highly recommend it for anyone who is just starting their gun journey.

This shop has the best selection and customer service around. Every time I call there is a pleasant person on the phone. I can’t remember the guys name who helped me but he had a large Magnum PI mustache and great sense of humor. I came in thinking I wanted a Hipoint and after renting several handguns I left with the one that best fit my needs a Stoccato XC. A+ dealer.

Go here for gunsmithing. For literally ANYTHING else, go somewhere else. Gunsmithing is the only reason I go here because they're really the only ones I know of around. But that's it. They're always so rude, so condescending, barely speak to you, and then once your done, you don't exist in their eyes. I was buying quite a lot of items in here and the guy lazily says "Come over to the register when you're done just standing around". I honestly should have just dropped the items on the floor and left then and there if this is how we're treating people. Like what is your problem? I did NOTHING to you, I'm spending money, I offered a friendly hello and got nothing in return. Overpriced, horrible customer service, no wonder this place is like always empty on the rare times I go.

Howell's is simply fantastic. I've taken two courses with them so far -- one with Tatiana one with Mitch -- and both were fun, engaging, and expertly taught. Whether you're a brand-new beginner who's never held a firearm, or a seasoned professional, there's a course for you. They even do ladies-only classes and events, to make extra sure that women have a safe, comfortable, enjoyable environment to learn and train. Their weekly shooting competition, Gunslinger, changes every week and is an amazing opportunity to practice things you might not be able to. It's light-hearted and fun for people of all skill levels. If you can shoot safely from a holster, you can (and should!) do Gunslinger. Finally, the membership, while not required to use the range, is very well worth the money. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to shoot at least twice a month. Being able to reserve a lane in advance makes it so easy to fit range time into a busy schedule without worrying about a wasted trip. Clearly, I can't say enough good things about Howell's.

Purchased my rifle online and they called me as soon as it came in. Went in to pick it up and the staff was great. Answered any and all of my questions. Friendly and courteous. Great place and best price around for my Mossberg! Definitely will go back.
