I’ve now driven 20 minutes on two separate occasions only to be turned away. The first time was due to my daughter not having closed-toe shoes, and the second was because the magazine contained bullets, though nothing was chambered. I have searched but cannot find these policies outlined on your website, nor were there any posted signs addressing these specific requirements. This makes it very difficult for visitors to comply. In our recent visit, the staff simply unloaded the magazine and told us to return the following day. Why couldn’t this situation have been handled with a warning instead? People cannot correct what they don’t know, and without clearly written guidelines, guests are left to guess what is and isn’t permitted. If you expect patrons to follow the rules, please ensure they are clearly communicated and accessible in writing, whether online or on-site.
Good store, clean range, but some of the RSO's have weird attitude issues. If you wanna get yelled at by an old man for trying to wipe your lens off, this is the range for you!
I recently visited the Sportsmans Rod and Gun Club range, and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience. Before making the trip (about 28 minutes one way), we called to confirm the range was open and available. When we arrived, however, we were refused use of the range due to a “new state law” that supposedly requires all firearms to be completely unloaded. This could have been mentioned during the phone call, but it wasn't. For clarity: some of my magazines were loaded, but nothing was chambered. While I fully respect and understand a private business choosing to set stricter policies, the issue is with the explanation I was given. The employee behind the counter stated this was a "state law". That is simply not accurate. As a retired U.S. Army soldier (and unit armorer for about two years), I take firearm safety and professionalism very seriously. To be told something as "state law" - when it is either misinformation or an outright fabrication - is unacceptable. Customers deserve honesty, especially regarding firearms policies. A little over a year ago, I purchased a pistol and optic here for about $1,000, but after this experience, I don't know if I will be returning. There’s no excuse for misleading customers, whether intentional or due to poor training. Two stars because they offer a wide selection of firearms, and they do have a nice indoor range.
Great staff and large selection
Fantastic selection. Fair prices. Friendly staff. And I can't say enough positive things about the gentleman who repaired my teenager's practice bow. He was fast, efficient, and made zero comments about the hot pink color or the obvious nicks and dents from years of 4H and backyard target practice and not keeping it in a proper case.
Took my bow in to be restrung and a new sight installed. Archery staff was very helpful!
Great place, I’ve really enjoyed the gun range so far. Today was the second time coming in and the guy overseeing the range was super friendly. He offered some great advice for a beginner like myself. I don't normally leave reviews but the service here definitely warranted it.
