The staff member who initially helped us was very nice, quick, and friendly. Unfortunately, the Range Safety Officer (RSO) made our experience unpleasant. The two times when my gun jammed, I asked my boyfriend (who is very experienced with firearms) for help, but instead of allowing that, the RSO would abruptly step into my lane and grab my firearm without permission. This was invasive, uncomfortable, and made the environment uneasy. I had also invited two friends who had never been to this range before, and instead of making their first experience enjoyable, the RSO made them feel uncomfortable as well by grabbing their firearms without permission. On top of that, we did not receive a full one-hour session. While I understand the range has set closing hours, the RSO rushed us out and even shut off the fans 15 minutes before closing—which I’ve never experienced at other ranges. As we were literally packing up and putting our firearms away, he was telling us that we needed to leave now. Overall, the RSO’s behavior left us rushed, uncomfortable, and disrespected. Definitely not the kind of treatment I expected or wanted for myself or my guests.
Awesome place. Decent amount of free street parking. Lots of firearms and products inside with good pricing too. Has 2 floors, and has both stairs and lift for those that need it. Employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful. I'll definitely be back. Highly recommend. A+
Should have called ahead. Tried to go here on a Sunday. It was busy and onlu one range was available due to the other being down. And like 6 people were ahead of us waiting. I wasn't gonna wait around an hr. Pretty stupid. Never been here before and may not come back.
What a great place, extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff. Nice clean safe ranges and good prices on everything
Very nice range and beautifully done store. Nice range of products and knowledgable people. Keep doing what you're doing! BEST SHOP IN TOWN!
I keep seeing these negative comments but have yet to meet anyone who has had a bad experience at D5 that hadn't done anything stupid to get treated to an arms distance stance from the staff. They are knowledgeable on what they sell, willing to work with you if you have no clue what you're looking for and if your interested in a certain firearm I have had a few recommend similar but didn't try and put me nor anyone else I brought with me down. Honestly, they are people that like the rest of us, have bad days, even so. They are very professional when dealing with people in general. It tends to help not to act like an ass in a gunstore/range. While I live in illinois, whatever guns I need or want, I know where im picking them up from.
The range is fantastic! The staff is great. The prices on new and used guns are very competitive. The instructors are excellent - private lessons are well worth the costs. If you're a shooter, I highly recommend D5 Ranges in Marengo.
Took a private lesson with Jeremy. It was a great experience. Spent some class room time first and that sets the tone for the range and that makes the absorption a lot better. Learned techniques to work on and feel much more comfortable after the lesson.
Great place! Awesome range and store. I have had trouble using their "contact us" Left several texts haven't heard back yet ?
Staff was rude , range was dirty. The people behind the counter didn’t acknowledge me or my buddies while I was there. The merchandise and lobby were clean. But other than that nothing good from this range. I’ve been to many ranges and this one is the worst by far. If you want to go to a place to get insulted and feel less about yourself then you’re in for a treat. Decided to leave and take my money elsewhere but not before asking to use the restroom, which had a Lincoln log sized turd still in the toilet. All in all poopy experience
