The range cheated and continues to lie to the local community. There is NO noise mitigation! After the state lost a court case, CV 05 6253, that the local community initiated, the state simply rewrote the law, Section 67 9103, to shield itself from accountability. Then it used flawed sound studies which make it appear they are compliant to the rules they themselves made. Shots fired from that range carry loud noise directly into our community, where anyone including children and elderly may be startled. The range noise is much worse than normal neighborhood gunfire. (which we do support 100%) People don’t want to bother their own neighbors if they have some nice hardware, which I get. But when the range has 100s of people a day focused in one direction, each banging out a huge box of lead and have no significant noise mitigation in place between the range and the homes of families for the every weekend, it sucks and the state should do better. What makes it worse is that the government hides behind the laws they wrote that go against the well-being of the local community and the initial judges ruling. We 100% support the Second Amendment and the right for everyone to responsibly own and use any firearm. What I do not support are egregious laws and careless practices that allow government agencies to prioritize their 9 to 5 responsibilities over the real daily impact their decisions have on the communities they are supposed to serve. This is not about guns. It is about common respect for the community and our neighbors. Choose a range that values RESPECT, HONESTY, and the WELL-BEING of the local community. If you decide to go, please ask them to do better.
