Great range. Big boy rules and aren’t preachy about arbitrary rules to lord power over you. Come, be respectful of the area and the other patrons, follow the firearm safety tenets, and have an enjoyable afternoon or morning. I usually dont go to ranges because too many have RSOs/a culture that almost feels suffocating. People wanting to make you feel like you’re an idiot or menace. Rankin Range made me feel at home. RSO came over to our lane and we talked guns for a bit. Shot a while, taking our time, going our pace. Did precision drills and more rapid fire drills, no issues. If you’re a gun owner in the central valley, Rankin Field Weapons Range is the place to go

I've been coming here for about a year now. I would give this place five stars, but today there was a group of people shooting next to me. Two of the individuals in their group were females who were clearly inexperienced with firearms. They seemed more interested in capturing videos and photos of themselves shooting. While laughing and being nonchalant, one of the females muzzle-swept me—not once, but twice. After that, I packed up my gear and left because I no longer felt safe. There was no range master in sight during the entire hour I was there. I had to cut my range session short due to this group’s carelessness. I've only ever been to shooting ranges in the Bay Area before this, and at those ranges, anyone new to firearms or the shooting range environment is required to watch a safety video before being allowed to enter. Maybe this range should consider implementing something similar—before an innocent person gets seriously hurt or killed.

I’ve been a member at Rankin Field since October and couldn’t be happier with my experience. I completed my CCW training with John and just finished the training for access to range 2 with Teddy. Both instructors are outstanding—knowledgeable, patient, and always willing to answer all my questions. The level of professionalism and expertise they bring makes this place top-notch. Highly recommend Rankin Field, especially instructors John and Teddy!

I went in to get some extra practice for my qualifications and John and Ted took time out of their day to give me pointers and work with me one on one. Their extensive knowledge about weapons and target practice helped prepare me and build up my confidence. I passed my qualifications with no problem thanks to the guidance of Ted and John. Highly recommended both of them.

Double review bc this place is JUST THAT GOOD! Also, I forgot to mention you have to bring your own gun(s). Good news though! Ted LOVES to clean guns. And if you whisper, “Semper Fi” in his ear before you leave, he’ll totally do it for you for free!

HIGHLY recommend checking this place out. Sincerely, it is an oasis in the desert. RANGE: The range itself is spacious and offers a variety of shooting distances, making it perfect for both beginners and experienced shooters. Steel targets (for handguns only) are well-placed with various options: reactive and non. Overall layout is thoughtfully designed to accommodate different types of firearms and shooting styles. A wide variety of paper target options are available at the front as well for both handgun and rifle ranges. Downside might be only 100 yards for the rifle range. So if you’re training to be Simo Hayha, either head over to Ukraine or maybe hike up to bureau of land management territory. Coyote is non-game. Just please, don’t start a fire. STAFF: Front desk staff are extremely helpful and welcoming. The staff helped me get a new rifle bag, targets, day pass, and let me get rolling after my brief with Ted. I saw the staff interact with both first timers and members. For each interaction, they offered great service, astute knowledge, and clear instructions. If any of the team is unsure of an answer, they will find it for you. Whether experienced or novice—they’ll get you signed and briefed and rolling, or they will walk you through with clear instructions. It is a safe, exciting, and great place to experience. Superb hometown range.

Honestly one of the best out door ranges I’ve been too in a long time they do everything here. Even have competing courses, metal targets , ccw classes and requals, they also sell guns and ammo. Place is legit and a must I went for the first time and loved it which is why I bought the membership. Ken is also super helpful he knows his stuff.
