Cliff's Black Iron and Trading Post

Me and my son recently started going to the range together. We love this place the staff is very friendly and helpful. My wife even goes with us sometimes. The environment is very family friendly when my daughter gets a little older we will definitely start bringing her as well.

Was a regular at Black Iron 7-10 years ago. This was before new owners/change of hands during COVID times. Went there today (07/05/2025) around 2PM. Around 1/2 of the lanes were down/broken. There was no safety standard. Was repetitively muzzle flashed by other patrons. Witnessed other patrons clear a failure to feed with finger on the trigger pointed directly at the head of their father. No safety was enforced, with a kid (under age 12 or so) was handling a loaded pistol sweeping the entire room. Freaked me out after witnessing these events. Left less than 30 minutes into being there. Told the guy "working" the place. He said sorry that we felt uncomfortable. However, there IS ABSOLUTELY no reason for what I witnessed. I told him a negligent discharge was just waiting to happen. He stated that he was the only one working today so he couldn't help it. I guess Forged in Fire on the TV in the waiting area and paying high insurance premiums is more fun than enforcing a safe environment... DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU WANT SAFETY AND A NICE PLACE TO LEARN... THINGS ARE NOT WHAT THEY USED TO BE UNDER PREVIOUS OWNERSHIP.

I visited this place to do a conceal carry renewal and it was nice warm and dry. They had a easy to use firing range and were very knowledgeable just what I was looking for. Two years later with a new owner even better than before.

The owner there is very nice very professional and very reasonable

I called ahead of time because I was going to be there a half hour before you close the man stayed open later for me and my twelve-year-old daughter to let us finish shooting he helped me out with a jammed rifle very informative, helpful and I'm very happy to see the new ownership! The prices have dropped and now are very reasonable I would definitely be recommending and bring my child back very soon thank you again for your help with my gun I will be back! Updating my review going to go again today once again can't say enough about this guys quality of character will try to help you with anything and doesn't ever give you a problem unless you accidentally switch the full auto LOL
