Hobbs Island Shooting Range

Terrible people

Don't use them for FFL transfers, they'll hold your stuff hostage and be rude when you call about picking your stuff up, then just send it back without even calling you.

(Review edited should have done this long ago) This range differs from others I have visited because of the amount of activities that are allowed for while maintaining an atmosphere of safety. Ranges like the CMP in Talladega have been my favorite for some time but with an interest in improving my skills and the option of using action bays HISR has become my new choice. Everyone I have spoken to there both ownership and members have been very friendly and accommodating especially during my first visit when I still was still learning the specific protocols for range usage. (Edit) a short time after writing this review I brought a new shooter to this range and had the worst experience at any range that I’ve ever had. An overweight man on a golf cart had a complete power trip on me and my friend who I think is friends with the owner/employee as I have no idea who he was or what he represented as he never explained and I had never seen him before. He accused me of being a thief by going to a different part of the range that required an additional daily charge on top of the very high yearly membership. He yelled that I was using a rifle on the pistol range and I had to show him that I didn’t even have a rifle with me. He yelled that I saw the sign and pointed to a bare grass covered hill and told us we needed to leave with a threatening attitude and his pistol clearly visible on his hip. I tried to play this off in numerous ways but my friend who was a first time shooter was very disturbed and was asking why the guy was so angry at us when we calmly listened to his yelling and explained that we hadn’t broken any rules and if we had it was purely an accident that we would resolve. I can’t think of any experience I’ve had that was less professional anywhere and I can’t think of a bigger liability in the whole world than having this man work in any capacity at a gun range. I left my original review unedited as it supports the fact that I went out of my way to make sure anything I did at the range was acceptable and in accordance with the rules. Never went back after that day and absolutely nothing could ever make me want to. People come to the range to relax and enjoy their hobbies not think that they are about to be attacked by a man on a golf cart for no reason.

Great outdoor range, especially for classes.

Been member two years love this range people are pur professional ,guys yaw need to post when you decide to close got up today and check web page and it said yaw were open loaded up and drove 45 minutes to come shoot and yaw were closed waste of time and money and gas disappointing

Too expensive +450 a year to just shoot guns
